Torresdale Suffolk Stud

The Stud was founded in 1970 by James’s grandfather Erle Lindsay of Isla Bank. In early 2020 The Suffolk’s were relocated to Stoneburn, the ewes have shifted very well and the growth rate of lambs has been impressive.

Our Suffolk Ewes are run commercially with 7000 Romney Ewes except for during tupping and lambing. The lambs are all DNA tested at tailing time to find the parentage therefore we don’t shepherd the ewes intensively at lambing time.

Suffolk Rams are used over 40% of our Romney Ewes, this year we killed 76% of the terminal lambs at weaning with an average carcass weight of 19.1kg.
